Planning is now in full swing for the cafe opening later this year, and although the immediate focus is on getting the builders on site, we’re also thinking about what the cafe should be like, what we should be serving, and a million other questions….

We’d like to know what you think about all this – do you have any ideas or suggestions? Are there other cafes you know which you think have got it right? Are there particular things you think should be on the menu?    Having a jug of tap water with a couple of pieces of fruit and/or cucumber in it, and glasses, is a nice touch (v common in NZ).

   I think at least one house newspaper is a good investment – can be a go/nogo decision maker for me when choosing where to go for a coffee.

   Cafe jazz at the right volume does wonders for ambience I reckon too.

   Re cafes which get it right, Velo Lounge here in Oldfield Park gets everything right in my book (inc the above); they have one in Bristol too I gather.
